“Is blogging even worth it anymore?”
That’s a question I hear often from my clients. And honestly, I get it.
With the rise of AI tools like ChatGPT, TikTok-style videos dominating our feeds, and Google’s Helpful Content Update (HCU) shaking up search traffic for loads of websites, it’s natural to wonder if blogs are going out of style.
But here’s the thing: blogging isn’t dead – generic blogging is.
When done strategically, your blog becomes one of the most powerful tools in your business toolkit. It builds authority. It boosts visibility. It nurtures trust. And most importantly, it helps the right people find you and say, “Yes – you’re exactly who I’ve been looking for.”
In this post, I’m sharing why I’m still all in on blogs – both in my own nutrition business and with the OBM clients I support. We’ll look at what actually makes blogging work in 2025, the common hurdles I see nutrition business owners hit, and how you can overcome them with confidence.
Blogging is a Slow Burn That Pays Off Big
Let’s start with a truth bomb: blogging is not a quick win. But it is a long-term asset that keeps working for you behind the scenes – long after you hit publish.
🔹 My thoughts: Blog content is evergreen. While Instagram posts fade after 48 hours, a great blog post can keep attracting your ideal clients for years. It’s like planting a seed that grows into a content tree – one that continues to bear fruit. And I’m all about long-term gains!
💬 Common barrier:
“It takes too long to see results.”
✅ How to navigate it:
When clients say this, I remind them: yes, blogging is a longer game – but it’s not as slow as you might think if you do it strategically. That starts with solid keyword research.
In my own nutrition business, one blog post received over 5,000 visits in a single month, just 3 months after being published. Why? Because we found a keyword gap, structured the post well, and delivered real value. Here’s the post!
And to help you balance those long-term wins with short-term gains, I often recommend a dual strategy – combining quick-win content (like social media posts or webinars/masterclasses) with your blog foundation.
Blogging Builds Trust & Authority
Blogs go deeper than a caption ever can – and that depth is what builds trust and positions you as an expert in your niche.
My thoughts: Social media is great for reach. It gets people into your world. But blogs are where people stay – and where they realise you actually know your stuff. That’s what can turn lurkers into clients.
💬 Common barrier:
“I don’t know what to write about in each post.”
✅ How to navigate it:
First, don’t overcomplicate it. Start with one strong topic – and then list out the common questions you get on that topic. I get these from:
- 1:1 client sessions
- FAQs in DMs or social media posts
- Facebook support groups
- Google ‘People also ask’
Then, always include a section with practical and actionable tips. This is the gold. Yes, people need to understand why – but it’s the ‘what do I actually do now?’ that creates real value and builds your credibility.
👉 Bonus tip: End every post with a natural next step – whether that’s booking a discovery call or downloading your freebie.
Has ChatGPT Killed Blogs?
With AI content flooding the internet, it’s tempting to think blogs have had their day. But this is where your human expertise sets you apart.
My thoughts: AI can draft facts – sure. But it can’t replace your lived experience, your client stories, or your expert perspective. That’s the secret sauce.
💬 Common barrier:
“Why blog when ChatGPT can just write it for me?”
✅ How to navigate it:
Here’s what I tell my clients: use AI to get the bones of a post – a rough outline or a first draft. But then layer in you. Add real client scenarios. Share your unique approach. Disagree with the generic advice. And fact check – always.
Your blog isn’t just about sharing information – it’s about positioning yourself as an authority in your niche.
Blogging Needs to be Consistent
Consistency is what gives your blog momentum – but that doesn’t mean blogging every week forever.
🔹 My thoughts: I’ve seen huge growth from just two blog posts a month. It’s not about quantity – it’s about strategy, relevance, and consistency.
💬 Common barrier:
“I don’t have time to write consistent blog content.”
✅ How to navigate it:
This is where a simple content workflow can change everything:
- Set a blogging rhythm that works for you (even monthly is fine!)
- Batch your writing
- Delegate uploading, image sourcing, and formatting to a VA
- Or — hand the whole process over to an OBM (like me 😉) who can manage everything from keyword research to SEO optimisation to supporting content creators. Read about how I helped a women’s health dietitian grow her website traffic.
You don’t have to do it all. You just need to commit to doing it smartly.
Blogging is the Backbone of a Scalable Content Strategy
If you ever feel like you’re constantly creating content but getting nowhere, this is for you. Long-form content, like blog posts, is ideal for repurposing.
My thoughts: A strong blog post can be the core content that feeds every other platform. One blog can be converted into a newsletter, Instagram posts, reels, carousels, LinkedIn posts, lead magnets, and more.
💬 Common barrier:
“I don’t have time to blog and do social and do email…”
✅ How to navigate it:
This is the beauty of repurposing. I help clients create one core blog post per month, and then repurpose it into at least 5+ other content pieces.
Think:
- Pull a quote or stat for a static post
- Turn the intro into a Reel script
- Convert the main points into a carousel post
- Repurpose the practical tips for your email newsletter
This is working smarter, not harder. Let your blog do the heavy lifting.
What About AI Search and Google Overviews?
Yes – search is changing. But that doesn’t mean SEO blogging is over. It just means your strategy needs to evolve.
My thoughts: We’re not just optimising for Google anymore – we’re also writing for Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) too.
💬 Common barrier:
“People are using AI search or Google AI overviews, so blogs aren’t worth it anymore.”
✅ How to navigate it:
Start by answering clear questions. For example:
- “Can I drink coffee with CKD?”
- “What’s a good lunch for PCOS?”
Use question-based headings and structured answers. Make your content easy to summarise and pull into search snippets or AI-generated results.
And don’t forget the bigger picture: by building out content clusters (groups of related blog posts), you’re helping Google and AI tools understand what your business is all about – and who it’s for.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve been wondering whether blogging still deserves a place in your nutrition business, here’s the takeaway:
- Blogging is a slow burn that pays off over time with visibility and traffic.
- It helps you build trust and authority in a way social media alone can’t.
- AI hasn’t killed blogging – in fact, it’s made your unique stories and expertise even more valuable.
- Consistency (not perfection!) is what brings results – even two blogs a month can be transformative.
- A blog is the backbone of your content strategy, making repurposing across platforms so much easier.
- With search shifting toward AI-generated results, focusing on clear questions and structured answers positions you to stay visible in the future.
So no, blogging isn’t about writing for Google. It’s about creating content that connects, educates, and builds trust with the people who need your help most. Think of your blog as your best salesperson – always available, always working in the background, and always ready to show the right clients that you are the expert they’ve been searching for.
The best part: you don’t need to blog every week to see results. You just need the right blogs, done the right way.
And if you want your blog to work smarter – not just sit there gathering digital dust, then I’d love to help. I’ve helped nutrition business owners (and my own nutrition business!) turn blog posts into traffic magnets – and I’d love to do the same for you.
