Running a nutrition business is fulfilling, but let’s be honest—it can also feel like a never-ending to-do list. Between client sessions, content creation, admin work, and marketing, it’s easy to feel stretched thin. You probably started your business to make an impact, but now you’re drowning in tasks that take you away from the work you truly love. Sound familiar?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. But trying to wear all the hats in your business will only lead to burnout, frustration, and slow growth. But here’s the good news – you don’t have to do it all! Outsourcing tasks and delegating is the key to freeing up your time, maximising your strengths, and scaling your business sustainably and one of the key steps i implement when optimising business operations.

In this blog post, we’ll dive into:

✔️ Why delegating is essential for business growth

✔️ How to know when it’s time to start delegating

✔️ What tasks to outsource so you can focus on your zone of genius

✔️ Who you should hire to take these tasks off your plate

If you’re ready to get your time back and focus on growing your business (without the overwhelm), keep reading! Delegation isn’t just a smart strategy—it’s a game-changer for your success.

Why you should be delegating

Before we get into the “what”, let’s talk about the “why” – trust me, this is the good stuff!

  1. You can’t do it all: Trying to handle everything yourself will only lead to burnout and stagnation. And let’s be real, that’s not the place we want to be.
  2. Maximise your strengths: When you stop doing tasks that aren’t in your zone of genius, you can focus on what you do best – whether that’s coaching your 1:1 clients, creating a new self-paced course, or connecting with your audience.
  3. Laser-sharp focus: Delegating lets you focus on the things that matter most to your business growth. You’ll be able to put your energy into projects that align with your business goals.
  4. Get your time back: Time is limited, and delegating frees you up to spend more of it on activities that bring in revenue and push your business forward.

It’s cost-effective: Your time is precious! You shouldn’t be spending it on low-level tasks that someone else can do (and probably do faster and better).

When is the right time to delegate?

So hopefully you can see that delegating is a no-brainer if you want to grow your business, but how do you know when it’s time?

Here are some clues to look out for:

You’re constantly overwhelmed and working most evenings and even weekends just to keep up.
You’re missing deadlines or putting off important tasks because you just don’t have the time (or brain capacity)
You’re spending hours on tasks you don’t enjoy maybe that’s tech, admin, social media (you’re not alone!)
You’re stuck in the day-to-day activities and have no time to work on your business which is what will actually help you move forward.
Your revenue has plateaued because your calendar is full so you don’t have time to take on more clients.

What types of tasks should I delegate?

This is a common question I get asked in the nutrition community. Once you’ve decided that getting help in your business is the way forward (big congrats for making it this far!), the next hurdle is figuring out what to delegate.

Here are a few questions to help you decide which tasks should go:

  1. Is it in your zone of genius? If someone else can do it better than you, it’s time to bring in a specialist. Think designing your website or managing your accounts.
  2. Do you enjoy doing it? You started your business to do what you love, right? So why waste precious time on tasks that don’t spark joy? Delegate those and free up time for the stuff that does light you up!
  3. Does it eat up too much of your time? If a task is taking up too much of your day, delegate it! Whether it’s managing a team, overseeing projects, or setting up new systems – these are all things an online business manager can take off your plate, giving you more time to focus on what you’re best at.
  4. Is it repetitive? Repetitive tasks are perfect for delegation because they can be easily systematised and set out clearly in a standard operating procedure. Things like scheduling social media posts or uploading blog content can be handled by someone else, leaving you with more brainpower for the creative stuff.
  5. Does it require your expertise? If a task doesn’t need your expert dietetic knowledge, get it off your plate ASAP! Admin work? Delegate it to someone who can handle it so you can focus on the higher-level tasks that’ll help your business thrive.
